The Mini Spiders he spawns are much more worrisome then the Great Spider himself. Their individual damage is weak (100-200 on a low def cleric), but tens of them spawn at a time. They will IMMEDIATELY make a beeline for the Mages who toss out Novas and Infernos. You have two options: Like in Robo, have a runner grab aggro and run them around. Or, you can crazily try to keep everyone alive and take out the mini spiders first (This risks not being able to kill Great Spider).A recommended approach for killing Giant Spider (if you all choose to) is to have everyone get into an AoE circle around Giant Spider and for the fighters to use Devastation, Mock, and Demoralizing Hit while the Mages and Archers use their AoEs. Clerics will heal party members as needed. This approach keeps the mobs Giant Spider spawns inside the ring taking a lot of damage, quickly killing them. | The Mini Spiders he spawns are much more worrisome then the Great Spider himself. Strategy
This quest re-lives the spirit of Robo, and the idea is basically the same.
Survive the 30 minutes, killing all waves of monsters which provide experience (EXP). In the past, the EXP obtained from killing monsters was often greater then the bonus for winning the KQ itself (depending on the level you enter KQ), but this has since been altered, so that winning the KQ provides significant more EXP.
Some notable differences :
- Many more bosses
- Several Madness Grave Robbers will spawn.
- 16 Ultra spiders. These give the greatest EXP.
- Great spider boss at the end of the KQ.
- Mini Spiders, spawned by the tens when the Great Spider's HP goes down. Not much damage and rather weak on their own, but over 50 can be running around randomly before they are killed. These give a large amount of EXP.
- Ranged Monsters
- Ice Vivis - warning, they can cast a spell that slows you down a lot. Runners beware.
- Archmage Books and Lightning Vivis - they can spawn in large quantities, and they stun. However, their HP is extremely low, a cleric can easily kill them.
There should be more than one runner if needed.
Notes for killing Great Spider : The Mini Spiders he spawns are much more worrisome then the Great Spider himself. Their individual damage is weak (100-200 on a low def cleric), but tens of them spawn at a time. They will IMMEDIATELY make a beeline for the Mages who toss out Novas and Infernos. Clerics will heal party members as needed. This approach keeps the mobs Giant Spider spawns inside the ring taking a lot of damage, quickly killing them.
When the Great Spider dies, the KQ will end shortly afterwards, and ore will spawn over the map, reminiscent of Mini Dragon. Players will have about thirty seconds to mine the ore and can obtain T3, T2, and T1 materials as well as low, normal and high quality ores and gems.
