A term given to a character, usually a fighter with a high defense, who has the job of taking all the aggression from a horde of monsters.
A cleric is often useful to a tanker, as he/she can heal the damage being taken by the tanker.
Tanking Styles
In an AoE attack, the tank runs through a mob of idling monsters, and pulls them back, usually to a waiting party, in order to defeat the group. The tank has the job of taking all the damage from the bad guys and holding on to the aggression by using a mock-styled attack.
In a Kingdom Quest, the tanker usually uses a mock-styled attack to increased the aggression between themselves and be bad guy(s), again to generate a higher aggression than anyone else on the field, so that only they take damage.
