It's possible to deactivate your Facebook account, not sure if that actually qualifies as deleting.

As it stands, it's entirely possible to restrict people from viewing your profile, as you can restrict certain settings so that no one can see them except for those you designate acceptable.

Yeah, its entirely possible... but they just make it a mega hassle to do it... everytime u add an application the default setting is "everyone on ur network can see it"... i somehow ended up with 30+ applications which I have to change my preferences 30+ times... so ONLY my frds could see it...

but yeah.. i stopped adding applications now...

You can change that setting when you ADD the application so it's not that much of a hassle.

Facebook really started going downhill when they opened it up to non-university people and added this applications thing. There are hundreds (perhaps thousands) of applications out there, of which perhaps 5-10 are actually useful. The rest are just irritating and pointless.

But I really like the option where you can block the application once and never see it again.

After I started blocking my applications instead of just rejecting them, the number of application requests have gone down a lot. (Like 1 or 2 a week if I'm unlucky.)
