There are less mastery(passive skill) for the hammer. It honestly doesn't affect it much at all so I wouldn't call it a disadvantage. Almost always in the case of a cleric go with a hammer.

What...? The starting mastery for mace is like 7, and the starting mastery for hammers is like 21, so maces have more. |
