^ This book was...interesting.
I had to read it for my GCSEs but I couldnt honestly say I enjoyed it. Although that may have been due to the context in which I was forced to read it.
No worries. No one likes Catcher in the Rye. Everyone claims it's one of the best pieces of American literature but it never lives up to that expectation. It's a fairly interesting read, yes, but Holden does come across as a self-obsessed twat and really doesn't seem to take anything away from his experiences.

You should meet an English teacher at my school.. he would totally disagree with you. You don't even know. My English teacher has read CITR like 5 times and is just now getting.. kinda.. why its (kinda) good. Lol. She went to that English teacher that absolutely loves it and told him she thought it was dumb though xD
I humbly submit that anyone that actually likes Catcher in the Rye either lived in NYC during the '40s or is lying just to sound educated. It's all pretension. Sort of like the people that say they like Ulysses by Joyce.
