As usual, North America has our own standard compared to most of the world. An A4 page is 8.3"x11.7" (210mm × 29mm), compared to our standard Letter size, 8.5"x11" (216mm × 279mm).

Why would that be a typo? Since 11" equals 279mm, 11.7" should equal 29. Makes perfect sense.
It's 297mm.
