If it's within 20~30 pixels there isn't an obvious difference. But I wouldn't even have to measure your signature to know it was way too big.
And if you have a question about why you were asked/warned about anything. Re-read what was sent to you, reply to the PM instead of making a thread or if you want to question it then by all means there is a Talk with the Mods section for a reason. Perhaps that will help you from making a fool out of yourself in the future.
