Have you ever seen video of a public stoning? This isn't some solemn ceremony carried out by a single executioner. It's a party atmosphere. If "gleeful" doesn't describe many of the participants I don't know what word does.

i prefer to not watch such things... but i suppose you're right, to a degree.
However, i'll admit... im not yet wise enough to debate such things. i havent read through the whole bible, or any other holy book yet... so till i do, im not really fully armed for such debates.

But that's the idea. If there isn't a universal code of what is wrong and what is right, then atrocities can occur in the name of God/ideas/feelings simply because people feel or believe a different way. And these horrible deeds are justified by the group that commits them based on believe, no reason or logic or thought. Reason is universal. Reason and logic are definite. Atrocities like the Inquisition, or the Holocaust would not have occurred if people didn't act on believes or emotions.

Perhaps it's possible for those beliefs can be corrupted. the feelings, and emotions can be corrupted by the more animalistic side of human beings. as Lennon once said, "We're all hitler inside, we're all Christ inside." Humans are, by nature, both good and evil. Therefore, it's possible to distort those feelings and shine light on the bad part of you instead of the good.

That's handy. Those that don't ascribe to your moral code have had their "pure" emotions corrupted.
Ever think, just possibly, that you're the one that has a distorted worldview?

Werent you the one who was just condemning the actions?
But yeah, i guess you're right to a degree. perspective makes a large difference on how we see things.

To add one quick summation:
The only universal thing that can decide if something is right or wrong is reason. Anything else leads to grayness and ambiguity.
