It's so sad, that people that practically did nothing, got dragged into this. Like Spirit, it must've been awful for those people who know they can't get out, and all they could do was wait. How sad would their families be, to get a call from their love ones saying "I won't get to see you again, I love you."?
And, I don't even directly know anyone that's affected by this, must have been pretty hard for people like Manzcar who knows someone close who had to deal with all this.
I remember that we were actually in our exam week, I didn't have an exam that day so I was home all day to see it flood through the TV... I don't even remember if I managed to study. But it was certainly what we all talked about before our exams...
@ Luna - We never forget those people that fought for us in World Wars. There are some things that, just because time passed, it doesn't mean we can now pretend it never happened. Nothing wrong with paying some respect for those people that lost their lives tragically.

@ Luna - Yes, and if you would like to remember those, then you can. Tell the family members that lost loved ones to forget and move on. You wouldn't, would you? This is not about the way they died. This is not about the war or the atomic bomb or genocide. It is about all the people that died. The wife that was on the phone with her husband as he spoke his last words to her. The mother that heard her daughters screams before the phone went dead as the second plane hit. The little girl/boy whose mommy and/or daddy never came home from work that day.
This is about those people. This is not about right or wrong, war or peace. This os not about all the horrible actions that we humans have caused other people.
You do not have to dwell on the event. All I was asking was people to remember the dead and their families that still miss them today. They will never forget. At least we have the chance to remember them. It could have been anyone of us reading this in one of those buildings or on one of those planes.

Sure there have been far worse things that have happened. But I guess it was just kind of a shock that it happened here in America, a seemingly safe country to live in. Most of the countries where things aweful happen are either ran by a tyrant or incredible under developed, there is either too much control or too little, the people can't protect themselves. But here in America, we have the idea that we can, and we tend to get too comfortable and perhaps a little naive. Then when something like that happens, we get a real slap of reality and remember that we aren't necessarily always safe. Yes, we can move on, but we shouldn't forget. We use history to learn from our mistakes.
Also.. compared to past events.. 9/11 wasn't that long ago.

What's done is done, I see no need to dwell on it years later. Yeah sure, it was devestating..but it seems more like a grudge than a memoir to those who died. Like people are so mad at what happened they just can't let it go.

About 3,000 children lost a parent that day. Their average age was nine years old. These children have already lost 7 years that should have been spent with that parent. There are so many girls whose father did not or will not walk her down the aisle when she marries. There are so many guys who lost their real life hero, their dad. There are so many girls who can't enjoy the planning and shopping for prom dresses with their mom. And there are so many who will never see their mom or dad as they become a grandparent for the first time.
It may have been 7 years ago, but the effects will last for so very many for so very long.
Obviously you did not lose anyone that day, so for you moving on is not a struggle and challenge, but for so many who lost loved ones it is. And if there are those of us with compassion enough in our hearts to stop and think about them on the anniversary day of that event then it behooves you to be more considerate of the respect we choose to show them.
Yes, there are victims all over this globe today. There have been victims for thousands of years in the past and there will be victims for infinity, but because there was, is and will be victims does not mean we show any given group of victims disrespect or inconsideration.
Sometimes it better to leave a thread without a post at all if you are unable to respect the reverence of the subject.
