I remember answering that question two years back. Something to do with the parabolic path and stuff, but I don't remember it really.

Hey, don't get too down on teachers - we are actually pretty cool. My students (I teach grad level Engineering) love to use computers to solve problems... challenge is I can come up with challenges that stump the analysis programs they have. Physics is awesome when you look at it from a different perspective. Google 'speed of gravity' and see what I mean.

MATLAB... lol, now that is a fun program! We have several classes that 'try' to teach the art of making it work. It ends up being trial and error with the Engineering students chatting heavily with the Comp Sci folks to figure out how make it work. I must confess, I also rely on my fellow Comp Sci proffs to maximize the use of it. Something about needing to be a pure code slinger to get the syntax all correct.

BTW, I cheat and use MathCad - but don't tell anyone!
