So you're saying that the drugs didn't influence the songs? You think someone sober would have written "We all live in a yellow submarine" or "I am the Walrus" or "Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting thorough my open mind possessing and caressing me "?

Drugs had an influence, but not as much as their songwriting capabilities. Deffinitely in Yellow Submarine and I Am the Walrus, but in Across the Universe, i think it was more influenced by their time meditating and stuff than the drugs. Across the Universe is more poetic than weird. the "pools of sorrow, waves of joy" line seems to be describing life in general.

You've...never really hung out with stoners, have you? Or people that use hallucinogens? The meditations were exercises in expanding one's consciousness, which hallucinogens certainly do. They were getting blasted, meditating, writing songs. It was all really cool and groovy, but they certainly wouldn't have made THAT music without the drugs. Other music, perhaps.

Depends on the song. Walrus and Submarine? yes. Revolution, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Across the Universe? i think they would've been created.

And acctually, alot of kids at my school are stoners... it's rather sad, acctually, since that test said it was in the developmental years that pot hurts most, and these kids are like... 12-14.
