need help with internet connection
my wireless switch on my laptop is messed up and instead of spending money to buy a usb wireless thing for it i was hoping to somehow connect it to my desktop through ethernet and use the internet from my desktop.
there's apparently a way to do this using a router but so far all fail. searching the internet isn't helping either. anything i've run into either doesnt' work or are incomplete

If you're going a wired route, why not just plug your laptop into the router? What OS are you using?

You'll need a crossover cable.

Hmm, you could try wiring the laptop and desktop to your router, then in the Network settings, you could try briding the connection. Might work. I'm not really a networking person. I just dabble.
