Dumb failed patches

So the patch started last night at 1 am my time. I was not staying up that late so I went to bed at like midnight. It was supposed to last only 3 hours, which puts the finish time at 4 am my time. I woke up at 8:00 am to play in BR...and the servers are down :sigh:

Refer to SKiNG's post:

It wasn't their fault. Ah well, we can't do anything but wait. -works on all the stuff I was supposed to do-

I'm feeling alot of pity for Outspark now. People are blaming them for the extra downtime when its completely out of their hands.

...

So it's not their fault? o.o

I might as well sleep early and hope for better 7 hours from now >_>

I've given my fair share of grief about Outspark in the past, but if the people at the farm took the machine down without informing them, it's totally out of their hands. Lord knows I've had to deal with things like that in the past.

If you have the time to wax poetic and complain about a free-MMO being off-line, I think you have the time to do a lot of other things ;D

i'm not trying to *start* rage against Outspark...but from an Enterprise IT perspective, a server farm's maintenance is usually planned, so Outspark *should* have known about it.

Also...communication goes both ways...If Outspark was planning a major maintenance cycle, they should have informed the server farm so they cuold take extra precautions to remain up during that time.

...meh...it reality I agree 100% with lrva tho :D

Hraesvelg 08-20-2008 01:23 PM

Oh, I agree, totally. The customers generally know well in advance what a farm is doing, but it appears someone there screwed the pooch. At least that's what we've heard from Outspark so far. Not that I think they're making it up, or anything.

Notice that I didn't blame Outspark...sking and snakeeyes have been up since like yesterday working on it, not going to blame people like that.
