Idiocy at its finest

Replies taken from a thread on outspark forums, where the thread starter was explaining how as a cleric, she was frustrated by people using short forms while demanding for buffs, and explained how to type in a complete sentence when requesting for buffs.

Quote:

I personally think that people demanding the full word *please* instead of plz, pls etc OR clerics who insist on dance for buff etc, are slightly full of themselves. This is the internet and the language on here is totally different to what we use in the real world.
Quote:

"Could I get a buff please?" (Gets killed by mob)

"Nevermind. Could I get a ressurrection instead please?" (Slow typing)

"Nevermind, 2 seconds left. I'll just horse back here."

=P
(disclaimer: i do not in any way agree with or promote such idiocy, i am only repeating what others have said.)

another thing: is there any patch where outspark didnt screw up? the most recent patch caused my stone capacity to be decreased, and when i PMed a GM about it, he said to forward it to customer service. I wanted to ask how to do so but he now blocked PMs. -_-"

O-mie 03-24-2008 04:29 AM

lol, outspark'd.

But well, its annoying when people just come up to you "buff, buff pls" If they're in the middle of killing something and have 239408 thing on them, idc. But 99% of the time I'm asked for a buff is by somebody riding on their horse with no aggro on them, or in town, and they just whisper me or annoy me with BUFF ME BUFF PLS BUFFFFFF

>_> It just makes me think, come on. Use your words like a big boy!

Ralath 03-24-2008 04:43 AM

I always try to be really polite and more formal when I'm asking for a buff.

Doesn't hurt!

Also because I dun want to piss off the cleric.

I hate people who type BUF ME PLZ!!!!! with all caps or too many exclamation marks and then spam it like 1000000 times.

But I think it is more acceptable to ask for a heal with a plz since... mreh, you might die if you get one. Often, I can only type out a "hepp" before i have to click again to keep running.

viasta 03-24-2008 04:54 AM

block them lol, then you cant hear res :P
I hate it when idiots that begs for res, etc. even when you are not a freaking cleric o.O. This guy in FoM asked me, as my mage, for res. And this other guy flamed me because I didn't res him as a mage O.O

Hyper 03-24-2008 05:00 AM

Wow, that's weird.

It's their fault for not typing fast though. XD Learn to type or learn how to evade death.

viasta 03-24-2008 05:06 AM

or maybe players in Epith is so retarded, they can't tell the difference of a staff and a mace
Edit:
and my title "Apprentice Mage" =/= "Apprentice Cleric"

Did you see my post about the things people in Epith have said/done to me? Amazing.

viasta 03-24-2008 05:11 AM

the KQ things????

Destrus 03-24-2008 05:14 AM

this makes me happy i'm not playing a cleric or i'd have to switch to ignoring everybody except friends and guildies like i had to in flyff.

NotMyWay 03-24-2008 05:21 AM

You could always use a HP stone or potion, especially if the cleric is not in ur party... I've even been asked for heals by people just saying "heal" or "heal plz" or "HEAL" when i was in town, mining in echo cave, or .... playing a mage. I suppose if the cleric in ur party needs to be reminded to heal the tanker then its ok but not if the cleric isnt in ur party.

I so want that "Notable Fighter" title on my cleric.

viasta 03-24-2008 05:30 AM

I want an "I AM NOT A CLERIC!" Title :/

Loveless 03-24-2008 06:00 AM

Lmao. There's nothing more annoying than hearing people ask for a "favor" in such a manner. The Clerics do NOT need to buff or heal anyone (except party members).

In most cases if you're asking for a buff, you're not surrounded by mobs so type it out. You're asking for a favor here. And if you're asking for a heal from a random Cleric. Stop playing the game now. If you can't even use up your own resources to save your ass... you probably shouldn't even bother playing. You most likely won't get far anyway so stop wasting time.

Even if there was such a title, i dont think the same people who cant understand "apprentice mage" will be able to understand "i am not a cleric". u will probably have to explain the title to them.

i also hate people who think that just because they heal me once (when im a cleric who is capable of healing myself) they think they have a right to beg me to party them?

Hessah 03-24-2008 06:25 AM

Well! I suppose when you're asking someone else for something you dont tell them "this is how i'm gonna ask you, and u should just give it to me coz i think this is what you should expect"...

who said we can enforce manners on the internet?

And a little something just for kicks XD it made me laughed
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9...rezplz2cp9.jpg
Well, i only didnt respond to him coz i wasnt looking at my screen... i hv nothing to him not watching his own life while asking for buff....

There's also a guild on Teva called "I_Can_NOT_Buff" for clerics under lvl 47... i think that's hilarious and a great idea! XD

I fail to see the difference between English and English. Sure, you save time by leaving out all the vowels but to me, you're presenting yourself as a half-wit.

Ivramire 03-24-2008 06:29 AM

If they ask for a buff, give them this

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Cleric_Skills#Immune

then run far,far away <3

Exactly.

Sometimes it makes me laugh at how stupid people can present themselves [asking me (a fighter) for buffs, while using '1337' grammar]. If people do that to me, I use Mock, Demoralizing Hit, and Toughness, then say "Ok, buffed." XD

Hessah 03-24-2008 06:40 AM

i SORT of see why ppl ask mage for a buff.... the colour of the 5x armours are quite similar..... BUT that doesnt give them an excuse to be stupid and not see the wand, and no shield, and that everything else is not cleric-like...

"Could I get a buff please?" (Gets killed by mob)
That's ur own fault for asking for buff while getting mobbed

"Nevermind. Could I get a ressurrection instead please?" (Slow typing)
"Can you Revive me please" - Get smart, type shorter sentenses which is just as polite..

"Nevermind, 2 seconds left. I'll just horse back here."
Why did you even bother wasting ur time typing that?

Hyper 03-24-2008 06:55 AM

^ROFLMAO at that last one.

By the time you finished typing, you'd be in town. xD

I just say things like, "Could I have a rev please?" or "Rex please. ^o^", and I don't think I make many clerics mad.

LMAO I was there when that happened and saw the whole thing. I saw him asking buff on that screen but I was talking to my sis so I didn't tell her, LOL. Then came "res pls" and I was like oh.

Hahah~

Enraya 03-24-2008 07:36 AM

Well, if you're dead and on the ground, just take the time to at least look at who you're asking a rez for, or click on them and see if they're a cleric or not. You can either ask politely or stay dead on the ground for another 2 minutes trying to get a rez from "u rez."

I find that most clerics just give a buff when they feel like it ... I'm proud to say I never asked for a buff ^O^ (well, except once, when I think I asked one of my guildies for one o-o;) If you want a buff, you either get it or just ask politely. Would you rather get a buff by typing out a sentence 2 seconds longer or stay the entire hour without a buff?

And just LOL @ Hessah.

Dont even bother with that, i used to immune buff people but then they started acting like idiots and dont even thank me for it, in fact they go "fine nvm" (after a long time of pestering me....) and walk away, which i find to be very rude, which is why after that i never buffed people unless they prove to me that they are capable of comprehensable, polite sentence-forming.

imo*this is jus my opinion so no need for certain members of this forums to open thier mouths and this is aimed at only one person in particular so sorry if I offend anyone else with this* If you're playing a Cleric then you should know that being asked for buffs comes with territory. You cannot honestly say you've played a game and never never asked a cleric or FS-type class for buffs. I tend to abbreviate things alot when I'm in a hurry to go do something or about to die while fighting. If a person says pls or plz instead of please is it that big a deal. You do know what they mean as long as they are'nt screaming in caps or speaking in jibberish. Cleric name+buff plz or Clerics name+Buff pls sounds polite enough would you rather they jus run up and just say buff me?

yeah well whether we've asked for one... or whether we've got one, is two questions...

if asking politely and spelling out every word gives u ++ points in a cleric's opinion.. then we just advise that spelling out the whole thing gets u a buff quicker...

if u choose not to, then that's fine.. its up to the clerics to decide if they like that and if u get a buff

NotMyWay 03-24-2008 09:44 AM

I can honestly say that i have played some games and never never asked a cleric or FS-type class for buffs, unless they were in my party or unless i knew them. (well at least not yet.) And even then, I know how to spell "please". If u need a buff to survive, u dont belong there.

I've also played some other games and have been asked very rudely for heals or buffs. But what is appalling is then when someone puts in the effort to make a thread and tell people "buff plz, buff pls, buff pl0x, buff ty, are all very likely to be ignored", certain individuals come in and try to justify their short forms, insisting that they are right and that they deserve a buff when they go about saying "buff plz"

Also, i cannot possibly buff every single person. If i buff every single person who says "buff plz" i might as well not play.

Koki 03-24-2008 11:16 AM

For some reason people like asking me for a buff/heal when i'm wearing CS items, and i'm a mage xD I was in LS1 in the pink valentines suit and someone comes up to me and says "Heal plz". I stood there for a minute and then I was like "Do I look like a cleric?" because obvious +7 lvl 20 staff was obvious.

Then yesterday a fighter in MT comes up to me while i'm wearing the easter tux and says "Buff plz". This time obvious +9 lvl 30 staff was obvious, and again "Do I look like a cleric?" To which I get "You kinda do lol" *Facepalm* XD

Enraya 03-24-2008 11:37 AM

LOL @ Koki
It really doesn't take much time to click on a person and mouse over their little icon that shows what class they are ...
But I also tend to judge people by names if I don't know what class they are @-@ I can tell cleric and mages by their names most often.
But I still do double checks xD Don't need embarassment.

Hessah 03-24-2008 11:53 AM

hmmm not many ppl knows that u can check.... HAHA i only just found it recently.... -blush-

secbro20 03-24-2008 11:55 AM

People using pls or plz doesn't bother me. But I don't use them myself. I only use them when I'm joking around. I'd prefer "please" but I'm not gonna refuse to buff someone if they use "plz" instead.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Spirit 03-24-2008 02:06 PM

I have actually been cussed out by my party in a KQ for not healing or rezzing. My response to my party cussing me out was, "ummmm..... when did mages get the heal and buff skill? Something new I don't know about?"
They can SEE my little purple circle surrounding my face and yet hey think I am a cleric. Hmmmm....

Zwivix 03-24-2008 02:31 PM

Ahh it is funny to play on a low level cleric in CP1....I was healing for a party there at lv 29 and lv 50's kept coming up to me asking for a buff o_O I think it might have been my +9's...

I always ask for a buff when their not busy or if they are I say "Can I get a buff when you have time" If their done with the mob and they dont buff me I get the picture and move on, but sometimes they give me a buff while still killing the mobs.

Enraya 03-24-2008 02:40 PM

@ Spirit
>____O
Wow, haven't heard people cussing at non-cleric people for not doing clericy things o-o;

@ Zwivix
Yeah, a lot of nice clerics tend to place an invince or restore on themselves and heal/rez/buff :DDD
There are some nice clerics ... and not so nice clerics too o-o;

Zwivix 03-24-2008 02:43 PM

I'm a nice cleric I think....and a pretty good one at that. For being the only cleric in a party that aoed stonies in CP1 (Yes, I want to show off I did that ^^)

Edit: Did I already mention it was at lv 29....
