If it was raging, that means it was green man. I think a majority of green drops have a blue title on floor, but upon pick up are green. You didn't lose much. Sucks about the looting noobs though.

I'm aware you don't care, but I want to get this across. That kid's either lying or has a really distorted view of what blue is. Whether or not it's an axe, I guarantee you it was not blue. Raging is a prefix used exclusively with greens, and never for blues. Blues have much more unique prefixes or suffixes. "Teva", "Uruga", "Cains" etc.

actually i had a blue shield that was "raging eyes"
which is the only reason why i thought it was a blue in the first place.

Ah that sucks, man. I've had it happen before, me and a friend were running around gathering mats, and this noob followed us for a while, taking things while we fought off the mobs.
