Fireriot

Random monsters?

For some reason there is a forest of tides crab and a sand beach crab. I don't think theres any crabs in forest of tides and i know theres crabs in sand beach but none with 614 hp. Are we keeping these pages or should they be deleted? Joshbl56 18:30, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Monster Index

I intend to make one such page to serve as an index. Currently there are many pages with monster related information that are badly organised and in many cases contain either off-topic or duplicate information. Both aesthetically unappealing and a pain in the ass to update, for anyone wishing to contribute, I think. Don't delete it :)

I'll salvage fragments of existing pages and restructure them... Having an index also means anyone can see very easily what content is needed because there will be red links everywhere. Without a good structure serving as the backbone, attempts to flesh it up will simply exacerbate the structural problems. Icy

Pages with duplicate information

Is it okay to collate them and replace individual pages with redirections instead, if they are unlikely to have much content? I will go ahead with this, unless you suggest otherwise. Icy

Ghost page?

How come they are different? The actual page, reachable with the first URI, doesn't have a redirection setup in it, but using the second URI you are redirected somewhere via another page. What's going on -.- And rather bizarrely, the one you deleted has no traceable history if you click on view xx deleted edits.

P.S. It appears http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/index.php?title=Custom_Video_%26_Screenshot_Creating_Guide and http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/index.php?title=Custom_Video_&_Screenshot_Creating_Guide are treated differently. However, my question above still holds.Icy

Two unknown hero monsters

sais that there are monsters called Forest of Tides Crab and Sand Beach Crab. But I can't find anything about any of these monsters. If they do not exist, why are they there?

Quest List

If NPC2 is the same as NPC1, NPC2 can be omitted. In fact, when I made the template, I assumed so. If you squish the page horizontally and observe how the table shrinks, you'll understand. Don't be picking off the bones... :p Icy

Export/Import

I tried making modifications to the exported file and then importing it. However, the original content was restored upon importing the modified file, without showing the modifications. How? Why don't you show me how you fix edit histories... :P Icy 01:59, 25 July 2008 (CDT)

I exported the page. I modified the XML. I checked the syntax. I deleted the page. I imported the modified XML file. But! The page is back there again, with the original content, not the modified one I imported. What! Icy 01:08, 27 July 2008 (CDT)

ParserFunctions extension

To: Triumph and Icy

Would you consider adding the ParserFunctions extension to this wiki? This would add more flexibility and power to the way that templates can be used. Specifically, I have some ideas about useful ways to parameterise repeated sections through the use of templates that should improve the consistency of wiki pages.

For a couple of examples of more complex templates I have written use the ParserFunctions, see:

ParserFunctions is a stable and well-established extension, safe enough that it is used on Wikipedia itself. :-)

Neither Triumph nor I has direct access to the /wiki/ files. Also, I have been told that it is not viable to upgrade the wiki backend (1.6) due to compatibility with the hooks for vbulletin. The said extension requires 1.7. Entropy has access to the files - if you can assist in improving the version/extensions, then that's great, because as the templates are now, one can't employ any conditionals. Thanks for the quick reply! :-D Yes, it was conditional statements that I too thought would be most useful.

So if the sticking point are the vBulletin parser hooks, perhaps I could update the underlying PHP code that governs those hooks. Then that allows the wiki version to be updated, and all the additional benefits that entails (including the possibility of adding this extension).

Well, I don't know if I can do it without seeing the code, but I may as well ask Entropy. Thanks again!

Server pages

In regards to my creation of pages discussing servers....

I made them to give the reader a general idea of what servers contain, The history of players, and so forth. There was no server hate or representation, And if an edit appears hinting or doing so, I'd ask for them to be removed, They are for educational purposes, What do you think?

Bot problems?

I'm getting asked to download an Unknown File when i click edit, I'm not about to do it, Either, is this the bot's doing? SenyxTheSoullessone-4682

We have already established that the bot does not do anything directly to the wiki; rather, it interacts with the wiki as a privileged user. Also, my primary intention with the bot is not to crawl the wiki, but keep an up to date list of data. Most of it will actually be on a regular page in /tools/.

A wiki bot is nothing more than a recursive script to update wiki entries. You will be able to see edit histories of the bot, and if you can't see something, the bot hasn't done it. When it runs, it will leave a link in all the edit summaries it leaves, directing to an information page.

Updating the map images

Hi. Is it possible for us to update the dungeon maps? I've noticed that its been a while since updates have been done. I've already updated the Luminous Stones lvl.2 map with the location of the Skeleton Knight but it seems that file upload is disabled. Are those contributions wanted? You have any guidelines for the editing of the maps? thx
