Updating the vBulletin parser hooks

This is in reference to this conversation: User talk:Stelio/ParserFunctions.

Icy mentioned that the reason the wiki version can't be updated is that the vBulletin parser hooks are not compatible with later version of MediaWiki. Updating the version of the wiki software would be beneficial for various reasons (including allowing the ParserFunctions extension to be added, which is what I was initially interested in).

I have some experience in writing extensions for MediaWiki myself. Perhaps I can help update the code in the extension that governs the vBulletin parser hooks? If you send me a copy of the PHP file(s) then I can assess how viable it is to update the code. I can then test the code on my own personal wiki, so that FiestaFan isn't affected during testing. (If you're not sure which files are relevant, I can talk you through how to work that out.)

Note that it is likely that the extension contains or references the username and password for the underlying MySQL database for the forum. You might want to replace those with dummy data in any copies that you send to me. But note that I won't be able to fully test any changes I make without a vBulletin database to point to (and at $100 for a licence, I'll not be setting one up myself just for this :-D). We can discuss this point further if you're willing to send me some version of the code at all.
