Restructuring the monsters section (Materialised, more input needed)

I intend to collate the bits and pieces of information in existing pages, none of which is complete, into a more unified structure in which each page serves a specific purpose, with a greater amount of interlinking amongst the pages, for increased ease of access. These pages should be laid out in such a manner so as to minimise confusion for someone who is contemplating input. This means the removal of repetition of content in several loosely linked pages and in some cases routing links away from certain pages.

If you need to raise your concern with regards to what I have changed, you can either append to this topic, or post a new one on my talk.

Currently, the following pages have been set up:

Requiring attention:

The old table's data need to be recoded. There is now a table showing all grades of materials for reference on the page itself.

Changing the structure of this potentially huge section is as much as I can do as an individual. Unless I gain the assistance of a bot, I will not be updating all the individual monster pages.

Icy 11:37, 30 July 2008 (CDT)

I would like to see a page for each type of monster. The pages are already there just would like to see the full list of monsters that fall under that section. Pages with list of General/Elite Monsters would be nice also (or just break the types into Beast General, Beast Elite). Once this is set up I feel it will help set up the monster individual pages. Gandalfa82 23:43, 8 September 2008 (CDT)

Monster XP rates (Materialised, more input needed)

Why is there two monster xp rate tables--one that is "complete" and one that is "incomplete" (the bottom one). Can we just delete the bottom one after all the values have been transferred to the new one or does the one on the bottom hold some sort of significance?

Also, in the new table, the last column of XP values doesn't have bars so it looks like one giant column.Ralath 14:21, 26 June 2008 (CDT)

So it happened that Firefox displays the table without showing any effect from the missing last column, and I was therefore unaware. It's a bit late now to append the extra column by hand (oooo so tedious) so unless someone feels very strongly about the outward appearance, it will be like that...
I'm removing the bottom section. If someone wishes to add info, they can add fresh ones. If someone really wishes to, they can dig up the history. Icy 15:37, 26 June 2008 (CDT)

Not sure where to put this so maybe this might be ok. I have been thinking about the diffrence between Forest of Tides Crab and Sand Beach Crabs and there is only one thing that comes to mind. While doing the quest for blue crab meat it tells you to kill blue crabs in Sand Beach. If you kill Blue crabs from Forest of Tides you do not receive the meat so I was thinking this is why there would be a diffrence. Sand Beach Crabs will give you Blue Crab Meat but Forest of Tides Crab will not and both are Blue Crabs. Not sure if this is correct but I have killed many Blue Crabs from FoT and never gotten the meat. With this said, I wonder if we really need both, if so then might want to make sure the correct crab says Blue Crab Meat and the rest do not.Gandalfa82 22:05, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

Apparently, Forest of Tides Crab has its own listing in data files, and therefore if it is present in the game it will go by the name 'Forest of Tides Crab'. Triumph is reported to have seen this entity in Isya but I have yet to witness it myself. However, at the time I inquired the files, this crab and the entities 'Crab' and 'Blue Crab' do not share identical display names. Icy 22:36, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

Another Name deal. Not sure but it seems Slanderer Phinoflie has been changed to Hooligan Phinoflie and also Huge Phinoflie has been changed to King Hong Phinoflie. Both can be found in Echo Caves. Gandalfa82 11:03, 15 September 2008 (CDT)

Level 48 currently, I've decided to start adding as much as possible to this section. Vasu 09:49, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

With regard to my earlier message, I've noticed that the experience I'm gathering from most of the monsters is different from what is listed. I've checked long and hard to see if this is due to any passive exp boosters I have, but the numbers just don't seem to match. I'm getting ~600 exp from a sand ratman while ~800 from a Mini Lips, so I think either they have vastly increased exp rates from when this table was last actively updated, or I'm wrong somewhere. Either way I'm unsure how to proceed. Vasu 16:15, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Single item pages (In progress)

These pages annoy me to no end:

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Lustered_Soul_Dust

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Lustered_Gem_Dust

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Glowing_Spirit_Dust

and etc. (See recent changes for a whole chunk of them.)

It will be a pain to create a new page for every single one of these items, not to mention the fact that there is not a lot of information that can be stored on a page like this, especially when we already have big categorical pages like these:

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Potions

or

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Gem_Dusts

Yeah... those pages aren't exactly filled in yet.... But, I played around with this one and I prefer this format a lot better. It'll make for bigger pages but... IMO, it becomes more streamlined. If you guys don't like it, just revert the edit. :3

http://www.fiestafan.com/wiki/Spirit_Dusts

And all I did there was just copy the information from the page SPECIFICALLY for Old Spirit Dust (which, I should mention, I had to go through the Quest List again to find) and just paste it right there.

So yeah.

If you guys like that better, it'll give me something to work on since the Quest List is basically done now.

Finally, could we get a link to the Materials page (it's a non-existent page, as of right now)? It's kind of tricky finding it and the way I do it involves going to go the Quest List to find something that involves Dust and then clicking the Dust link to access it. =/

Ralath 14:47, 13 July 2008 (CDT)

If you need anything deleted, moved, protected, or otherwise modified by the almighty Wiki God (myself), send me a PM of the list or post the list. Triumph Talk
So is that a yes on the project? Ralath 20:44, 23 July 2008 (CDT)
If you look carefully, the pages you're dumping copied information into were created by me back in April. I set the traps for edit slaves to come forward to do more work, and then moved on to deal with the Monsters section. When you're done relocating information, you should tell me the pages you've been through, and I'll move/delete/redirect as required. Materials doesn't exist. When it does, a link will point to it from the Main Page. The template I made for Materials gives you a suggested list of generic names to use. You may or may not like them and you are free to nominate your own preferred name, but if you do so, check the links to make sure you haven't created broken links. Icy 23:24, 23 July 2008 (CDT)
Ooooou.... Icy is very sneaky. o-o I don't understand what templates you are talking about though so I will ignore the comment and pretend like I never heard it. Als, now that the Materials page exists, can we get a link from the Main Page? Ralath 04:44, 30 July 2008 (CDT)
Template:Materials. Main Page articles need to be complete ~.~ Icy 05:25, 30 July 2008 (CDT)

Materials individual pages

I'm now working on making all the sub-pages of this page follow a standard template. Check out any item used for Scroll Production to see what I am talking about. I looked through all the pages and noticed that there was a very large variance as to what one page would have and another. I took what I considered the important parts of all and blended them together. Hope that is ok, like I said, all Scroll Productions pages are done now moving to Stone and Potion skills. Page is sectioned based off of Tier then you have the Icon, Description, What it is used for, Where it is found. If your look at that page chances are you have one of 2 questions, what do I do with this or where can I find this. So I am answering both of those. Hope it is ok.Gandalfa82 19:03, 9 August 2008 (CDT)

I've given my tweak on Leathers. All look reasonable to me. Icy 12:06, 10 August 2008 (CDT)

There's something that bothers me about these pages; it's probably length. We should tweak Leathers to perfection before standardizing the other pages. Icy 12:18, 10 August 2008 (CDT)

I understand the length deal, it is long. I do have one concern about your table, those items in say Potion Production that is used by not all but most of the potions from 2 different tiers. They would require alot of room in the table so I set up a table that can be used and it can replace the Alchemy tab all together. Can also do another table for monsters (maybe based off of type and you can click the type to see the list?)). Jelly drops from undead only so a link to undead and you can see the full list of all undead monsters and you will know that those are what you should be killing if your looking for Jelly. I had the list I had cause that was what was already there. I just completed it and yes, it is very long. Alchemy table will shorten it greatly. Monster Type only will shorten the page even more. So, you would have it where all you see is two tables and the basics. Take a look at the Alchemy Table I did and let me know. Not sure if monsters should be a table or just a list of types.Gandalfa82 23:53, 11 August 2008 (CDT)
The list for undead is at Template:Undead and so are the other types. You can easily take the lists from the template and put them onto a new page. In the small table, it is unnecessary to list all the alchemy items. A brief description will do. I like the pink tables you made on Leathers but I'm going to rearrange the monsters a little. Also, I am irritated that the icons for all grades of a particular material is the same in the archive and that the colour overlay is done in-game. This means either screen shots or installing PS for me to produce icons for that page. Both are annoying. Icy 06:38, 12 August 2008 (CDT)
I was listing them all simply so they can be the same on every page and you just change the tier. Some items are used for one tier or another in almost all of a production line (when I say this I mean, Tier 1 of production 8/9, Tier 2 of production 5/6/7, Tier 3 of 2/3/4, Tier 4 of production 1. Something like that. Meats is big on that for Potion production. By having a list of all of the production you can just list the Tiers needed. I was thinking at one point a Template would work where you could write (for scroll production) Mentality=Teir 1, Teir 2 type deal like what you have for mobs drop and it mark out the unused boxes. But that will require a little more work then I feel like doing. I toyed with it just to see how it would go and it failed very badly. I was hoping to be able to keep all information that would be desired handy and still keep it as easy to navigate. Basically I see two questions when you look at that page. What drops it, What is it used for. Either a crafter has a lot of it and wants to know how to use it in their trade or a crafter needs it and would like to know where to get it. Chances are that this crafter would have a certain Tier in mind and I was hoping the page would answer those questions at a glance. These are just my views on it. Also, if need be I can get the pictures you need for the images, just tell me which ones you need.Gandalfa82 23:30, 12 August 2008 (CDT)
You missed the point, the small table at the top is just an overview. In the case of meat... I'll do the meat one to show you. Icy 06:21, 13 August 2008 (CDT)
ok, I was thinking you were going yo replace the page with that, lol.Gandalfa82 19:59, 13 August 2008 (CDT)
No no, that would defeat the purpose of having the pages at all. So what do you think of separating the monsters in the Dropped by section by monster type? Icy 22:25, 13 August 2008 (CDT)
I like it but I did alter the set up a little. Let me know what you think of that.Gandalfa82 23:15, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

Take a look here Talk:Leathers and let me know what you think of that table. The page could be made up of 3 or 4 of those with your overview table and would be very short and easy to read. I know that table could be done better using a template of some kind and that is another reason why I came up with that idea. Leave comments on what you think.Gandalfa82 01:23, 16 August 2008 (CDT)

You tweeked it so I would say you approve of that idea. I will work on doing all tiers of the leathers now.Gandalfa82 01:23, 16 August 2008 (CDT)
I am pleased with it. I'll proceed to asking in the forum for suggestions. As long as it doesn't suffer any heavy weight criticisms, it will go ahead ~.~ Icy 07:13, 16 August 2008 (CDT)

Side Note: I will be working on these stand alone pages and once that is complete (maybe as I do it) I will be going through other individual pages (like Tough_Meat to redirect or just change all pages that link to it (depends on how many/which pages link to it). I just noticed that most of the ingredients have a standalone page for each tier and I do not think that is needed with all the info being on these pages.Gandalfa82 18:05, 1 September 2008 (CDT)

Redirect the individual pages to the respective generic pages please, and if possible, by using an anchored form ie. Meats#Tough_Meat. Note that you must express any special characters in the anchor name in the strange %xx form, and all spaces must be replaced by underscores (Meats#Tough Meat will not work Icy 19:19, 1 September 2008 (CDT)
Ya, I figured that out before the hard way, lol.

Now all Scroll Material pages are converted over just need to correct links to other pages and do the redirects. They need more information inputed in them and I will be working on those numbers in the next few days when I get a chance. I think I might take NPC Buy out for all Tier 1 + items since you can not buy them from NPC currently. I also uploaded images for Gems, Gold, Silver, and a PNG for Copper since that seems to be the current preferred image type. They are listed as Coin-Gem/Gold/Silver/Copper.png.Gandalfa82 03:00, 3 September 2008 (CDT)
I've turned the black backgrounds to an invisible one. If you require any information to fill in the tables with, I may have them available somewhere, so please do ask. As for images, Triumph has access to more productions I believe, and he will be bugged for the icons. It also seems that you were unable to delete a page, or do IP blocks. I'll do something about that. Icy 03:20, 3 September 2008 (CDT)
What I need most right now is a list of Monster Types. Which monsters are which types so I can put them in the correct place. Another thing that would be nice is a better list of what each monster drops in respects to which items and qualities. Other then that all I need is Icons since I'm not yet to 100000 comp and can not get the icons that way anymore. I do want you to check out the Sap page. I feel that it is finished the way it is and there will be no changes to it for a while.

I also took a moment to change the template at the top (dropped by to loot from) this goes better with the rest of the page and also will work on harvests.

Toadstools - Should the name be ToadStool? (well, I changed it if you want to revert back it will be easy. Just the templete, Materials, and Mushroom_(object) pages that will have to have the change made for everything to work. I changed it to match the In-Game name that you stated was what we would go by) That is the in-game way it is spelled. Also, Toadstools needs prices added to be considered finished. With the current state of things I can not log into Fiesta due to Vista 64-bit not working with new installer so I can not get those prices.

Mushrooms will be finished tonight except for prices also.

Another side note: I think Herbs needs to be two pages one for Sage line and another for Geranium line. Sage>Rosemary>Basil>Marigold , Geranium>Vilolet>Ramsear>Salvia. Not sure how to get this to work, just throwing the idea out before I make 8 tables on one page.
And should Ores have diffrent pages such as Ores_(Copper), Ores_(Silver), and Ores_(Gold) Gandalfa82 02:06, 5 September 2008 (CDT)
  • Earrings icon revisions complete as of today. I will finish Composition images myself, don't worry about it. As for formatting and naming issues, ask Icy (talk), since he is picky about how formatting should be. Triumph Talk
Thank you for finishing up the Images, the pages look great now. Ok, prices need to be add. Since only Tier 1 can be bought I will probably removed the buy from NPC section out of the others. Pending Icy's approval of this. The top can stay the same to show that there is no buy price. With this said these pages should be done shortly if all goes well. Gandalfa82 23:23, 6 September 2008 (CDT)
Sure, go ahead. I'm working on some research rather than aesthetics at the moment. And, wrong section, Triumph. Icy 00:33, 7 September 2008 (CDT)
I misinterpreted Gandalfa82's comment about Composition as a request for icon images. Triumph Talk

Character statuses page (Proposed)

A proposal to create a page that concerns itself with various afflicted statuses, made by Gandalfa82.

How about a page for the Curse, Illness, Poisions. Could be just one page but have on it what Cleric spells cure what, what potions cure what, what scrolls cure what.
Basic idea:
Curses
*Common
*Uncommon
etc. repeat for Illness and Poison. Get me the list and I'll figure it all out. I just have no clue and would really like to know, lol.Gandalfa82 04:03, 30 July 2008 (CDT)

In essence, you wish to write about character status. This would fall into the combat section. It will be a new, self-encompassing page. What would you like to be the title? Icy 05:23, 30 July 2008 (CDT)
Debuffs, or something like Harmful Effects? simple as that.
Debuffs - Debuffs are things that will be done to your character by enemies in order to hinder your abilities. There are 3 types of Debuffs in Fiesta:
*Curse
*Illness
*Poison
.Curse - Curse effect your Character by subtracting from your stats. Your Character will turn (Red/Blue) when effective by a Curse. Aim decrease, Speed decrease, etc. (maybe list all the curses, and I could be wrong about what curse does)
Illness - Illnesses effect your character in order to make it where you can not preform the functions correctly. Your character will turn (Red/Blue) when effected by an Illness. Illnesses are: (list the different types of Illnesses, maybe Bleed damage would be illness? I don't know)
Poison - Poisons will do damage to you over time, Your character will turn Green when effected by a Poison. There is only 1 type of Poison and it comes in various Tiers. (unless Bleed is a Poison? but you go Red with Bleed, I really don't know enough here to know.)
Can make 3 sub pages for each type since there is a chance for more stuff to get added later. The Sub pages can have the full list of what is a (Curse/Illness/Poison) and what will cure them. But like I said, I don't know enough here and I'm doing this after I woke up before I got my morning Smoke :(. I'll check back after I have done that and woken up.Gandalfa82 11:55, 30 July 2008 (CDT)

For here a better idea would be Buffs. State all types of Buffs/Debuffs in game, how to get them and how to get rid of them. That is the most simplistic explanation of this. Gandalfa82 12:24, 15 September 2008 (CDT)

Map Pages for Each Zone (In progress)

I'm currently going through the different zones and making a standardized way of listing the information. This should make it easier when visiting more then one zone while surfing the Wiki. I would like to see all Map pages look the same with basic stuff and that is what I am currently working on. While I am doing this I am also redoing the NPC Individual Pages for these Zones (See below). Gandalfa82 04:35, 21 September 2008 (CDT)

All Zones complete till Uruga. Gandalfa82 22:51, 15 February 2009 (CST)

Good job. Your rendition of the Maps is great. Icy 05:06, 21 September 2008 (CDT)

NPC Individual Pages (In progress)

I am currently working on the individual pages for NPCs. I almost have all of Roumen's NPCs completed. What I will be doing is working the world pages based on how they link together and move to the NPC pages for each area as I come to that area. Please note I do not have any characters of high levels so I'm kinda limited on how far I can go. You can see the layout I am using on a number of Roumen's NPCs. Skill_Master_Ruby page has the layout I will be using on all pages. Element_Helper_Remi shows also how it will be done. The world pages will be done like Roumen. It will have an introduction that explains about the place, tells something about the NPCs there and the level range of the monsters. I will have tables for NPCs and connecting Zones. All Locations will be based on which grid has the majority of the icon in it. If it is an even split then I will go with the one on the bottom left of the icon (where it touches the ground, lol). These are just what I am working on while I'm at a stand still on the Materials individual pages. Gandalfa82 12:24, 15 September 2008 (CDT)

  • All information up to Uruga Completed.

Monster Overviews

Seem like a good idea though a lot of work. The one added by Cookies to the Slime and Mushroom pages seems interesting. Implement for Monster Pages? Lvramire 23:17, 3 March 2009 (CST)

Nevermind, though I don't know why I typed 'data' instead of 'info' Lvramire 01:38, 10 March 2009 (CDT)

Added the basic info on Weddings, See Marriage. Add what must be, Take what can't. Will add info on prices in the item shop later. Senyx 08:42, 14 April 2009 (CDT)

Additional Enhancement Info

I have seen a rumor that, even though Enhancing is luck based, the placement of the stone in relation to the final roulette box determines the final result. Again, this was a rumor, so more clarification is needed, but according to my experiences, the following holds true. In reference to the box where the stone is placed, the two adjacent boxes, if selected, will result in the item failing and breaking. The next furthest boxes, if selected, will result in the item failing and degrading 1 point. The two furthest boxes (other than the final, opposite box which results in success) result in simply failing, with no other effect.

To clarify, if the stone is placed in the topmost slot, going clockwise, it would be Stone, Break, Degrade, Fail, Success, Fail, Degrade, Break, and back to Stone.

I wish to have others confirm or deny this as I have seen little to no info on this, and this is with no premium items attached. If this holds true, I would recommend addition, even though it is nonessential information. It just shows the results are not random. --Wulvendawg 23:40, 5 March 2009 (CST)

You are correct but the luck tells where it will fall. When you click to enhance it runs the numbers and then falls based on the number it lands on. So, yes, if you land on those you will have the stuff happen in the order you stated cause the math was done when you clicked the button and the animation was what took the time. Hope this explains it better. Gandalfa82 01:19, 6 March 2009 (CST)
Neither of you are very clear in writing this out. Basically, where you place the elrue/lix/xir does not matter, as the box the star stops in is part of the randomness of enhancement. Every time you click enhance, a calculation is carried out by the server to select the semi-random outcome. Read the enhancement guide. Icy 10:43, 6 March 2009 (CST)
To further what Icy said, the calculation is instant. It is possible to conduct your own experiment: If you open your inventory to where your item is, open the enhancement window, press enhance, and move far enough away from the NPC, the enhancement window will close. However, the enhancement effect will have been automatically attributed to your item, and will be visible. Triumph Talk

Categorisation

Although there is some use of categories at the moment, it seems to me to be inconsistent:

Is there a current policy on categories? I don't want to go ahead and make lots of changes that aren't agreed with.

My thoughts:

  • It's fantastic that pages are automatically categorised by certain templates (such as Template:Human and so on).
  • I think that Category:Monsters should just contain the appropriate subcategories, into which all monsters should be placed, rather than also contain every individual monster page. If someone is searching for a particular monster, surely they will just type that monster's name into the search box if they aren't aware of its type or location?
  • I would tend towards categorising nearly all pages (that are in the Main namespace) and using a hierarchy of subcategories to provide a clear and useful structure (the subcategories of Monsters are a good example of this).
  • It might then be worth giving particularly useful categories more prominence, such as a link from the Main Page. (I'm thinking about Category:Glossary for terms such as Aggro and Tank, for example.)

-Stelio 06:52, 15 March 2009 (CDT)

KQ mobs preferrably.

Noticed that when hitting "Random Page" the King Kong set of monsters is pretty frequent, Does anyone have info on that KQ? If so, i'll pay to get it.
