Titles are obtained by doing various things in-game. There are hundreds of titles and not all of them have been discovered yet. You can change your title by opening the character window and clicking change by the title.

Friend Titles Friend Seeker - Have 5 friends Friendly - Have 10 friends Popular - Have 30 friends Celebrity - Have 40 friends
Chatting Titles Announcer - Shout 10 times Broadcaster - Shout 100 times in an hour
