It's used for enhancing when your equipment is +0 to +3.<br />

It's used for enhancing when your equipment is +4 to +6.<br />

Each stone has ranking based on Tier level ([1], [2], [3] etc.). The equipments (armors/weapons) also have an Item Level. The level of the stones you're using must be the same as the item's Item Level you're upgrading (for example, am Item Level 2 item requires a Tier[2] Elrue/Lix/Xir in order to enhance it). <br />

The first level 2 equipments are the lvl30 ones.<br />
