Gaming programs
Okay, for all you gaming pros.
My son loves playing around on the computer and designing things. He is currently looking for a computer program that will help him design all these games in his head. He was looking at Realm Crafter. But, after looking at it myself, I am just not sure.
Does anyone out there know of a program (does not have to be free), that will help him in his game designing?

What kind of game? For mmorpg, realm crafter looks like the best (only?) one.
For more general game development theres:
http://www.garagegames.com/ 2d and 3d, lots of "indie" games have been made with this. Some even for xbox 360 and wii.
http://www.crystalspace3d.org free and open source 3d engine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_ScriptFor making flash games like those found in the fiesta fan arcade.

Yeah, he wants to try his hands at creating MMOs. He is really into the creating more so than the playing.

hhmmm....since hes only a beginner, or isnt he? why not try Game Maker. its so easy to use, its just like drag and drop (of course you need to code something too, but im sure its very easy.C++/ Java codes)

Whoops - I was just telling my son about these programs for him to look into. I was quickly informed that Game Maker and Action Script is for flash games, and that is not what he is looking for.
LMAO - my child knows more than me when it comes to this stuff.
So, he is gonna look at the other two that Entropy gave me.
So, if anyone else knows of some programs he can look at that are not for flash games, (cuz goodness, I dont wanna get in truoble again, lol) let me know. Thanks.
Oh and he has played around with this stuff too, so it is not like he is new to it. I just want to make sure he is gonna get a good program if I have to pay for it and I hesitate to take his word for it, lol.

Personally I'd use Valve SDK Engine for design.
If you need some Java coding help, I can help since I know and used for a couple of months now.
