I agree about the higher tier spells like Ice Blast and Lightning Blast. The next level increase is not terribly effective, and they cost a grip to buy and use way more SP. I bought them (just to play with them), and I reset them fairly quick to save on my SP usage. My damage didn't change much, and I'm starting to hate this mage, because you get excited when you level up, only to find that your new skills are crap and you don't need them, as you don't really get terribly tougher with them.
