So after downloading this random crack file.. which I have a feeling was a virus ... I can't open certain programs.

When I attempt to open Magic disk, which worked perfectly before I get this error... and I can't mount my iso img without this program.

I also can't run avast any longer either... I've tried uninstalling, re-dl'ing and installing both programs and they both turn out the same way each time; not working!

When I attempt to do a scan or turn my avast on, I get the response "The following components cannot be started: mailshield, p2pshield, network shield etc" and nothing happens when I hit the "start program" button.

If anyone has any help or idea's as to what's going on, I'd greatly appreciate your input.

If you have a restore point you can go back to it should be an easy fix with System Restore.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Best run from safe mode.

Yeah system restore is your best bet. Beyond that, I think you should backup, re-install windows and scan your backups before copying them back.

It seems that it is some kind of virus which has deleted the files needed to run your Anti-virus. I'd take these peoples advice and system, restore. And dont use any kind of USBs or anything.

Sometimes I'll rename the .exe name of crucial programs. On my old PC which seemed to like getting viruses and malware, I'd rename my antivirus and scanners something helpless like paint.exe since they almost always block things like antiviruses and task manager.

Not sure if this would work here x.x

Hmmm thanks guys. I've attempted multiple times to do a system restore this morning.. back to about 5 previous dates (all knowing my system was running fine then) and I get the same answer every time: "System cannot be restored to ... no changes have been made". I guess I'll have to reformat.

Yeah someone boned me hard ... I searched "dungeon siege 2"
on bing, and this happened with every result.
