I was going to say that, but I think this is a fairly recent PC? And I assume there is data on the PC you'd like to save? You could take the Hard drive out, put it in an external case, and attach it to a new PC.

So if I replace the motherboard for less than 100 dollars that would actually be more cost effective and quicker than saving for a new computer.

My computer is only a few years old and I have a large number of pictures saved to it...yeah i know i should have those saved to disc..i swear i was going to do that soon.

so i will probably go for the motherboard fix and then save for a new computer.

If your getting a new motherboard please talk in detail about what's needed and whats not. Plus, the problem might not be the motherboard at all, which is why I recommend getting a new computer.

Well, to be honest, it is an Emachine....I'm surprsied it hasn't bricked before now. Those are some shoddy, steaming piles of fail.

I'll agree to that, emachines tend to be built with refurbished parts, so they are so cheap. I went to walmart the other day and a new emachine will only cost you $300. With an emachine its possible that the motherboard did go because that is one of the more common problems that happens with those pos. Your lucky it wasn't the power supply, cuz that tends to take the emachine's hard drives as well. But if you are willing to pay more for a better computer check this site out; has decent computers and decent prices.

K I'll admit it I got the emachines cause it seemed like a good

computer for the price cheap but not that cheap. That said emachines are horrible I have a couple of questions

1. what is a really good computer at a reasonable price that will be:
a. used for email internet searching
b. a little Fiesta now and then
c. photo storage and burning
2. how do I get my photos off my old computer
a. Has years of photos and kids videos that I need

I agree with everyone here, I'd buy a new machine if it was in the budget. You can slave your old hard drive to leech pic's off it. Dell is what I'd buy if I had to buy a whole computer.
