Essentially, they do nothing.

I guess you could almost see it like a "like" (or dislike for negative rep) button on facebook.

The more reps you get, the more green dots you get, but it doesn't give you any special privileges..

When the forum first started, the rep scoring system is slightly different.. the more rep you get the more rep power you have, the quicker you can give others green dots (hence my full bar)

But then people complained that it's been abused, even though it does nothing, we've nerfed the rep power, and now it takes more reps to get more bars..
