So the point is that G___G has too much influence over the forum and that there should be a non G____G mod? Just a rhetorical question, but what if, from a objective standpoint the best person for the job happened to be in G____G?
Would that person be given a choice to leave G____G to mod?

I thought it wasn't a vote, only a nomination. One of them said that we were allowed to nominate 1 person (just not ourself) and why we think he/she would be good for the job. Then the mods would discuss it amongst themselves, and that it didn't matter how many nominations the person got. o-o

I don't think that is their fault that they have guild members who like to actively participate in online communities like this one. Not all of them were recruited from FF. The ones who weren't were just encouraged to sign-up here.

Similarly, you have your own guild, no? I guess my answer would be to encourage them to start signing up and to start recruiting more from FF (if your goal is to develop a stronger presence on FF).

I think a lot of other guilds have a good amount of activity (like iiInnocencex and Lykanion and Knights_of_Isya) but I dunno because they are usually hidden in their own guild forums.

and I'm sure that some will agree that it was a contest of "well of course he/she would be the best mod, that's why I'm voting for them!"

it was most likely a popularity contest.

The poll was something a member did and was purely for fun. The mods were chosen based on nominations and the reasons given in those nominations. And yes, two mods became inactive and there were openings.

The poll decided that? I think the poll was just an unofficial "who do you think it will be" sort of thing. The decision is made by the admin and other mods in the end though.

My memory of the last election of mods is kind of vague since I wasn't that invested in FF at the time but I don't think it was a popularity contest.

I know that the mods received nominations and then I *think* the current mods decided the new mods based on who they thought would be best.

And I trust our mod team enough to make good decisions about what's best for the forum and not necessarily just because they shared a guild.

And I'm not saying that it's bad you see GG wherever you go.

I said nothing you could do... you're bound to see them... really not implying anything bad.

well, ideally speaking, its not hard to find a mod that's not in GG. I could do it for instance (though not sure how well that'd work since people aren't exactly fond of me) since I actually have had prior moderating/admin experience and have had a lot of experience dealing with people in MMO's, etc.

Do I want to? LOL NO xD Modding sucks, for multiple reasons. I'd rather only a few people really like me, but honestly like me, rather than a lot of people be fond of me, but not truly like me, only like my "popularity".

But there are others capable of doing the job who aren't in GG ;o
