Yeah some people say hes overpowered some say he sucks... I say hes good if you can just use him the ways hes supposed to. Which I guess is hard, since he is quite a different champion o:

he's frail, slow, and his tiger stance is shit. He does low damage, has a small stun, and his turtle is only useful for its activation. really, the only good thing i've heard about him is from his passive...

You'll excuse me if I don't exactly trust your analysis of the metagame, Mr. "Attack a Champion next to his turret when I have 50% health and I'm not a tank and die. Twice.".

He could use some tweaks, and I can't play him for shit, but he shows definite potential.

I frankly think Udyr has a good thing going for him right now. One of the things that does need buffing though is his Turtle stance, not a strong enough effect to favor using it over the others.

Tiger stance has its uses. I've heard that though on-hit effects only apply to the first hit, each 3-hits separately have an independent chance to crit. Combine that with the enhanced attk. speed and you have great DPS. The bear stance (the stun one?) is a good tool for chasing/fleeing and has use in team-fights, just rotate the stuns.

Phoenix is his farm skill, decent AoE damage. Done.

Yeah, I really like his turtle skills. Regens health AND mana. Great for keeping yourself in a lane. And I've yet to try it, but someone in game suggested that i get uhm, I forgot what its called, but every 4th attack it adds 100 magical dmg. Works great with that skill. Though, he is definitely in need of a buff, or for someone to find an efficient way to play him. The majority of players who play him, myself included, absolutely blows with him. kind of like mundo, everyone thought he sucked, than someone found a build that works with him and he owned.

I loved his R and his E but... didn't know how to play him.

But I don't have a lot of experience with non-ranged.

i tried udyr yesterday. i totally sucked with him lol. i ended up just being more of a support come in and stun people when my team needed to get away then run like hell lol
