Clerics are overpowered.
I'm a cleric, and I can say they're overpowered.
Now how? As everyone asks.
Simple: Clerics "abusable" healing spells allow them to spend little or no money on HP Pots. By empowering the reduced SP Consumption on Heal, the clerics get to reduce the cost by half (on like the first 3 or 4 heals.) This is rediculously good.
So, combined with not needing HP pots/stones and using very little SP, the clerics can Solo very effectively. If they wanted to "power level" themselves, they can, it'll just require Pots and stones. Most other classes all require Pots/Stones in the first place to level effectively anyways.
Saying that, Clerics therefore don't "cost" very much. Since all classes can equally use Alchemy Skills, Clerics can make a lot of money because they never spend money on Pots/Stones. That can save you 2-3s per level. That adds up to almost 20-30s every 10 levels. That ain't too shabby.
On top of that, the buff spells they get are rediculous. They can self-buff better than any other class because they can produce scroll AND use self-buff spells. Although players can ask for buffs, the cleric just has them. He doesn't have to waste time finding a guy to buff him. So, he's very good at timely leveling.
Although the Cleric deals the least amount of damage, it doesn't matter. They should. They heal have an endurance-factor (not the actual stat) of about 5-6x more than any other character. Spam-heal and just slow-roll your damage. It's a marathon, not a race. You've got a target goal way ahead, and you're well ready to just stay alive until then.
Clerics have the advantage of taking on higher level mobs before any other class with their own buffs, their healing, and the by adding it the Scrolls they can make. That's twice as much stuff that other classes can't have.
Most clerics go with some sort of 2:1 END:STR build, to untilize the long-lastednest, while trying to boost up damage a little bit. Even the 2:1 STR:END builds aren't bad either... they try to dish out a bit more damage, but not a whole lot. Again, it's a marathon when soloing.
As a note, this is mostly about soloing. Since this game can allow many characters to efffectively solo up to level 40 and possibly 50, you have to think of it that way. Other characters eventually have to group together or they just can't gain EXP well enough. Clerics can solo their entire way and do it with better Mobs.
@Groups: When grouping, Clerics are a must-have. Healing a tank in a KQ or just an upper-level Mob is key. Plus, they buff the group and you're all just nutz. Clerics are always wanted... how many other classes can easily say that? Fighters are key, but you can have a entire group of clerics. One tanks, the other few just spam-heal... you don't even need Fighters.
Those reasons alone make the cleric just rediculous. They're a very easy class to play since they're cheap, easy to level, have a high endurance toleration, and just outlast most characters, plus they're always wanted to any group, even a group of nothing but clerics... all positives, with relatively no (if any) drawbacks... pretty sweet bargain.
For these reasons, they're also really fun because it's very hard to be disgruntled with the cleric class... no one every complains about their cleric. Keep that in mind (no headaches playing a cleric!)
