Would relative truth be the belief that as long as something is true to me, then I’m right even when I’m wrong? If that is the case then by virtue of it being true to me it becomes a Relative Truth and thereby not impossible as I now hold a Relative Truth?

Or is it considered impossible because, even though it is true to me, if it is not true to others and any one of those other people are successful in convincing me that what I perceived as true was actually false then I have now learned a new fact and my perceived truth is no longer relative?

Actually Loki that is exactly what I am talking about. But what I am saying is that relative truth in and of itself is not possible.

If I say truth is relative and that what is true for me may not be true for you therefore truth is relative. (As you put it in your first paragraph)

Then the statement “truth is relative” becomes an actual truth to be believed by all.

If the statement “truth is relative” is an actual truth then truth can not be relative.

If truth is not relative then the statement “truth is relative” is false.

Therefore truth can not be relative.

There must be actual truth.

Therefore the statement “truth is relative” is impossible and a contradiction unto itself.

I think there is a slight flaw here.

Your argument assumes that all truths must either be relative or not. Many people distinguish between “fundamental truths” with a capitol ‘T’ Truth, and “relative truths” with a lower ‘t’ truth.

So it could be a Truth that all other truths are relative. Therefore relative truth is a possibility.

Another insight from this debate is that all truths are relative and Truth only exists usually in the form of faith (belief), which is also relative.

Now I’m basically implying that all truth and Truth is relative, which would bring us back to Manzcar’s paradox, however it is only my belief that humans can never prove a Truth, which would make my statement that all T/truths are relative, again relative to my opinion…
