Hey Gemma! I didn't know you were on here and very kind of you to say.
Namu Williams It's actually a combination of things.
1. I really enjoy making videos without the pressure of relying on them for money. I tried having youtube as income for a little bit but found it really stressful to come up with ideas and also, in all honesty, quite hard to make the same amount I'd make working lol
2. I do a variety of things for work but I don't want to bore you guys with that stuff. Working outside of youtube is nice. Except when I don't have time for youtube of course. smile emoticon
3. Those articles aren't correct. At least they haven't been for me. To be a bit more open about my side- my vids don't actually make big numbers a month and I have really low back catalogue views. People who make a lot tend to have really high view counts, viral videos, or videos that are continually being watched. Currently I make more working myself. To be transparent, I've made a few hundred this month off youtube so far off my back catalogue views. * THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT* because I'm SUPER grateful and know it's a lot of cash for making videos that I wouldn't have otherwise and it's a wonderful opportunity- but maybe that clears things up a bit and let's you know it's not all as it's written. I know it's a cagey topic because it's weird to talk about money and most other people don't get asked how much they make, but maybe talking about it will help you understand. Of course, this number gets higher if I make regular videos because people are watching etc. and I find it tends to average out to each video being able to pay for my partner who is a producer and cameraman professionally to help me film for the day and for me to take the day off work to edit. Sometimes there's a little bonus, sometimes there isn't.
This isn't the case for other everyone because everyone has a different type of viewership.
I'm just incredibly grateful that I have people as cool as you guys watching and that I can make weird videos and not be out of pocket making them! Sometimes you guys are even kind enough to give me a little pay for them!
Hope that helps!
