In all serious though, yes, you're right to a certain degree. but there ARE realistic anime, such as Lucky Star, and Ouran High School Host Club.

Appearances in anime are usually more symbolic or portaining to the artstyle. they have nothing to do with realism o_o

If you want a realistic artstyle, watch Miyazaki's (i think that was the director) films. I.e. Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, etc. However, the stories in those are wildly fantastical... so i guess you cant get the best of both worlds.
