erm isnt the more healing orientated cleric person supposed to have mace and the other hammer?

Or can you still choose between both weapons?

Think class-paths are restricted in weapon-choice. Guess devs thought that since they were giving the attack skills to one class and defensive to the other, they'd try to balance it a little by giving the more offensive weapon to the defensive class.

eg-Archers and Clerics, their respective defensive-skill branches get Hammers and Crossbows.

It doesn't really make a lot of sense for the clerics I think. For archers it's not that bad, bows are still quite powerful if you have one with good stats. And I'd take a bow over a crossbow any day.

DOT is better on maces that's why Holy Knights were given the mace. Example the time taken to do 10 attacks on the hammer the mace can probably do a couple more. So mace is eventually going to win out over the hammer. (Bleed also has a better cooldown than Trip making Mace a better DD than Hammer)

My opinion Ranger Vs Sharp Shooter well to me its pretty obvious that Sharp Shooter is more of a PvP class while Ranger is more suited to PvE. Using a X-Bow to kite a huge amount of enemies is going to be way more effective than using a bow to do so and the skills of Sharp Shooter would easily benefit PvP better.
