a valid point. However, babies dont really care what source the love comes from. the grandparents are obviously ready and willing to be active in the babies lives.

and im not advocating the fact that she's doing this to her parents. but this part, at least, is something they'll probably enjoy, since they DO care for the babies.

I'm not for that. She did this to herself, she paid money to get this done (money that could have gone to her already born children). While it is a nice gesture, and caring for babies can be easy, it does take toll on them. They have work, their own lives, things they need to do. Plus, they're elderly, it can't be too good for their health.

They're going to have to teach 8 babies how to crawl, 8 babies how to walk, how to talk, how to use the potty, how to ride a bike, how to swim, how to tie their shoes, send 8 kids off to school, the list goes on. Its not other peoples job to do that. If she can't do it she shouldn't have done it...

there's no question that she shouldnt have had the eggs fertilized. she had six kids already, and was jobless. she had no right to do it. but she did, and now it's up to her and those around her on whether or not they'll punish the kids for her idiocy. there's also no question that the parents shouldnt have to do this. they should be retiring. but they're obviously willing and ready to do it, so that's a place of support.

It's good to be optimistic but I think too much optimism will require a reality check, sometimes. Not saying being pessimistic is a good thing, but we'll always need a balance between the two. If this mother was really thinking that she'll have no problem raising 14 children, 3 (I think?) with disabilities right now, then I think she needs a reality check.

I feel bad and sorry for the grandparents. Though I can't really say much since I don't know whether they DO want to look after the kids or not... it's still a lot of burden for them. To think that the grandfather has to look for work at the age of 60, a retiring age (or something, can't remember) to support a family of 14 children... heck, I think it'll be hard for even just middle-aged parents.

And this mother said she's considering to go/continue her studies as well? She's already thinking about herself when it sounds like she hasn't got her own children sorted out yet. Of course, this is all from the wiki, I don't know them, so I can't say I'm right about my judgement... but yeah...

Not to mention, looking after a child with autism takes a LOT more effort than people think. I have a cousin with autism, and it requires LOTS and LOTS of time and effort from the parents to ensure that he is properly cared for.

This woman already has a child with autism. Two more with other disabilites. I wonder how much time and effort she had put into them while she's gone for a plastic surgery and making 8 more babies? =/

And it's not just the baby-child stage. Even when they all become teens, they need to be "cared for". I'm guessing it'll probably be even harder. The age of young teens is when they could potentially be more "rebellious", and go "bad" if they don't meet the right people. And if they don't get enough care then, it'll be really hard to make sure they grow up to be "good" people.

Even if the grand parents truely want to take care of 8 new babies (and probably the 6 other children), they are not young anymore and they are human - they have limits too. I just really hope that it'll turn out okay for both the grandparents and for the kids.

the mom's pride is getting in the way too... i just heard on the news that she turned down an offer for a free housing and a free nanny. once you get to that desperate stage... you cant turn down that kinda stuff. you've gotta give up pride and think of your kids.

I don't think they should ask HER if she needs the free housing and free nanny.. they should ask the kid's caregivers which are the grandparents!

Hell if i was a grandparent I'd take up the free nanny offer!

Very generous to the person who offered those... obviously the kid's well being should be priority here...

There's no question that she shouldn't have had the eggs in the first place. The children she already had might have been straddling the borderline for living in an unfit environment.

It just doesn't make any sense at all to have 8 more and try to cope with a burden that is mostly already shouldered by someone else. The only question then is if she should keep the kids after they're born?

Why would anyone who can rationally think let someone who has shown such a poor sense of judgment, to raise possibly 8 more children on top of her first 6?

IMO, it would be more of a punishment for the kids to stay with her than go to better homes where all their needs can be attended to and by people with the ability to do so.

Turning down free housing and the help with child-care?

No, if they are going to be raised in poverty or suffering the parent should know better than to have kids in the first place. Especially if this was by paying a doctor to fertilize her eggs. She should have known, she already had 6.

Turning down free housing and a nanny? You start to wonder... if it really was for her 15 min of fame. The thought must've crossed her mind when she got surgery and then had those 8.

A child's life is not a ticket to be on TV.

there's absolutely no question that she shouldnt have had the eggs fertilized in the first place. and there's also no question that she's being an idiot. the question is, should the kids be removed from her care?

i personally think that, even though she most likely loves and cares about them, she's an unfit parent, and they should be put up for adoption with maybe the possibility of visitation rights, though that could be rather akward for the kid...
