Is there a difference between academy master and guild master?

Yeah, the guild master controls the whole guild, but the academy master has power over everyone in just the academy.

By default the guild master is also the academy master, but I'm fairly sure you can change that (I don't have any guild members to test that with.)

Also, it started working randomly, even though my person was in town. Dunno.

You need to be careful about who you appoint as admin in your guild. Admins have the power to ban the guild master. If this happens the guild is effectively distroyed.
