Alot of that sounds very familiar to me.

In any case, it seems like you just had a bad experience or two with some asshats who don't know how the game is played. If giving advice on fear is "taking it too seriously" then the person who said that ought to have been kicked out of the party that second.

However, like O-Mie said, helping out is a one-sided thing. You don't expect anything back, but you help for the sake of helping. Otherwise your motives for helping in the first place would be questionable.

I've helped out quite a few people with different things, whether it be money, weapons, armor, or quests. (the last being the most common.) I do it daily, and I spend easily more time doing that than grinding these days.

The key to not getting frustrated over it is knowing when to turn someone down. You aren't obliged to help anyone, you choose to do so yourself.

i found myself helping new players to use the map...
i've said this about 1000x to different people... often the question is "i'm new, what do I do?"

Me: "click on M, and u see those ! on the map? it means u've got a quest there.. go do it"

I don't really like the title of this thread nor the way you act as if you're the only person who does those kind of things. Join the club sister. I've been helping people out ever since I began playing games like this. Once I get my wings and begin flying on my own I help others get their's as well. I don't expect anything in return. I never have and I never will. I wanted to be a Cleric to help others but after seeing just how rude and inconsiderate a lot of people were, I decided it wasn't worth it.

I even got blamed for the entire failure of a KQ once simply because our entire group had died off and some Cleric thought she could tank the King and Queen Slime within like 3 minutes. She kept saying "Heal me! We can beat this!", "Heal me so we can win!", etc. Of course it wasn't spelled that well (duh) and afterwards all she did was insult me as did our other party member. I told them we were never going to beat it but they didn't listen.

And thats not the only thing. A lot of people take advantage of my kindness and i'm tired of it. From now on i'm going solo... err... as well as a Mage can at least. I'll still help others out by giving them info, items, materials, etc. when they need them but only if they aren't idiots, spammers, and so on and so forth. Besides, Mages are more my thing anyways. Well... I mean... I am the greatest Mage to ever exist after all. :P
