Well, for starters, it isn't one that glorifies that sort of "street" lifestyle. I suppose to be catchy, a song does have to have a certain amount of repetition, but songs like this just seem to drone on going nowhere, musically.
As for songs I find myself humming/getting stuck in my head (which I believe is the definition of catchy), check out Urbie Green's "The Green Bee" or Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner."
Tom's Diner:
Not surprisingly, I couldn't find "Green Bee" on YouTube.

Actually, that's not like my favorite, favorite song... I just like the "*BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG* and *CLICK**KA-CHING* and take your money." Which is reapeated a lot... (repitition)

Tom's Diner sounds pretty catchy...
Other catchy songs... Most of them are New Found Glory songs:
Sorry, no music vid. This is "Sincerely Me" by New Found Glory
"Dressed to Kill" by same band, NFG
"It Hurts" by Angels & Airwaves
You don't have to listen to them, but I'm just showing you that I don't only like songs that talk about the "streets".

I'm not a fan of the overly nasal rock like that. To each his own.

Ok... never mind...
Rock is like my favorite kind of music. Rap is like my worst favorite (yet, still my alarm clock plays Soulja Boy. Let me explain later.) That first song, Paper Planes, is Altern Dance.
Ummm... are these songs are not rock and I still like them:
Bubbly, Colbie Caillat
Love Song, Sara Bareilles

I like that first one, "Bubbly," but the second one sounds a little too...processed. Might just be YouTube's compression making it sound like that.
Don't get me wrong, I like rock, I just don't like this sort of new breed of overly nasal singers. I think my generation started it with Green Day. Something like Georgia Satellites or Lynard Skynard is more up my alley, rock-wise.
