Once upon a time.
Words I once knew so well.
----------------------------
A prelude, a beginning, a start and a gateway to places and kingdoms far and removed from the travails of a mundane life. I was of course, younger when I last heard the phrase uttered in the context of a fairy-tale.
My biggest problems at the time were whether or not I'd have to take a bath that day...
*7 years old, I hated water and couldn't swim*
We'd all like to believe that everyone as a person, one small infinitesimally insignificant being, has the capacity and power to change things at a greater level.
That we.... one slight spark of life and consciousness, can direct currents and sweep clean the steps in sands made by those who walked before us...
We'd like to believe that the real world is like it is in fairytales.
That the world and all its peoples can be split into sides and factions, of light and dark. And that we are given the right to judge what is so. That Good will always triumph over Evil, the Hero gets the Girl, that the might of Righteous Anger burns hot enough to prevail, that one who fights for the love of friends will always win out in the end.
It never works out that way.
Not in the real world...
