here's what happened:
the windows that i had on my hard drive before i couldn't update (won't go into any details)

so i erased my hard drive and attempted to put on the windows that i got with my old dell computer. i assumed that if it didn't work i could just erase my hard drive and reinstal the one i had before until i could get another one.

unforunately dell's full of F***tards who like to screw me over. when i tried to install that dell windows the computer cut off during installation. wtf, this has never happened before. so i format again and try to install the one i had on it at first. wtf it cuts off again.

i can only assume that the same thing from them that stops windows on my old hard drive (from my dell computer) from starting up on my new (not dell) computer got on there and i can't get it off. so it must come from the dell windows xp. right now i can't install any windows on either hard drive. so they're basically both completely useless to me (there's also a 15mb difference between the two hard drive sizes it shows me at installation). this is total bs. but my father told me to order a new hard drive on my credit card. also i should call dell and cuss them out. so i can't use my desktop right now <_<

great it decided to work this morning <_< no i'm not happy. why am i not happy? cause my father was gonna buy me a new hard drive. i was aiming for the 500gb seagate and it knew it, that's why it decided to work D:<

I bet you installed some ghosted version of windows hence no update x). As for DELL.... You can't install using manufacturer's OEM windows discs lol.

i know i can't install it but i thought i'd try anyways, i didn't expect it to f*ck up my hard drive.

i think my aunt said the first one was slip streamed. that's why i was installing anotehr. the one i'm using now is good though.
