Laptop Help
Okay, so yeah, I'm a nub to owning a laptop. To connect to the internet, I just use my DSL connection. I just plug the ethernet cord into my laptop and it works.
I don't like running my laptop over night, but I decided to keep it running last night so I could listen to music in bed. When I got up this morning, it wouldn't connect to the internet, but it works on the desktop PC D: So I assume its an issue with my laptop.
Can anyone help? >_<

As always with technical difficulties with computers, computer specifications should be provided. In this case, you will need to provide us with your computer specs. And is your computer custom built or purchased from a vendor?

Uhh, possibly overheated due to not enough insulation?
Only thing that comes to mind. Lots of desktop-users who get a laptop forget that cooling is more important on the portable version since vents can get blocked easier.

i have a laptop, and i've had that happen a few times...
1) go get a cooling fan for your laptop; it helps out your comp when it works overtime.
2) be sure to restart your comp. that helps most of the time... + if your laptop goes on stand by, it sadly; normally messes up hatever you were just doing on your screen... sigh.
also what operating system do you have?

laptop cooling fans/pads are almost a must, especially if you are playing 3D games and working the pc overtime.
I dunno if it was an overheating issue or not, but I *have* had "wonky" laptop behaviour (USB ports stop working, wireless quit, etc...) due to overheating before.
Here are some results for laptop cooling fans from Google shopping
you definitely want one of the pad-like one tho.
I'd expect to pay around $25 for one.
Good luck!

I generally find that I never need to worry about overheating as long as I have the room moderately cool and elevate the laptop so the vents have plenty of room.
I used to keep it up 24/7 for about 3 weeks about the time I was in Rush.

I don't see what computer specs have anything to do with this.
Yosei I had the same thing when we were trying to split the internet usage between Desktop/Laptop using a Motorola Surfboard Modem.
You have to call your ISP and make sure for one that it supports networking, which we found out that we had the capability... but the modem they gave us wasn't meant to network =.=
So we figured out something.
If you can only run one thing at a time, you have to plug one computer into the modem, then reset the modem. Each time you want to change which one you're connected to, you should have to reset it again.
Now we just have wireless, and both laptops/Desktop can all 3 run on our internet.
Hope it helps ^^

I pay to play the RL MMORPG, College. 4 years grinding in college gets you a piece of paper for the rest of your life and you can buy enough stuff to +9 your car//house.

I tried hooking up my internet to my laptop again, no luck. I had it off and charging for a few hours. Abou 3-5ish hours. Not sure if thats enough time to let it cool off if it was over-heated.

Yos, when you say listen to music, do you mean a CD in the laptop or just music from elsewhere. If it is downloaded music or something like that and you do not have a CD in it, try turning it sideways when leaving it running over-night. This gives your vents plenty of air to vent.
