Noob quest: godly weapons

I have a newbie question:
What godly weapons are?
I think they are weapons or armors with high stats, but how can you know if something is godly or not?

Generally, godly weapons are Green Named weapons with high double/triple stat... that's useful for the class..

I was given a tip that, you take the level of the item, divide it by two, and the answer is the max stat you'll be able to find on that level weapon...

eg. A level 70 armour, the max stat you're gonna get is about 35....

I think that's a rough guide
