In Fiesta, characters appear to be tracked by their movements as opposed to their reference location on the maps. When a character moves, your client is informed that they moved in such and such a way, which may be different to what the player themselves see on their screen.
In essence, two different view points exist: 1) the player themselves 2) everyone else but the player.
Most commonly cause by small and sudden movements - tapping the directions to position oneself actually makes them move off the spot in everyone else's view (while the character simply swings their legs in the player's view). Counter productive at the very least.
Recommendations to avoid this issue:
1) practise positioning your character using your mouse. Move away, hide characters, and position your character. Then unhide.
2) practise timing: run towards the spot you desire, in the correct direction, and stop in time to assume the correct position. You need to have moved an appreciable distance to have confidence that others see what you see (if the character are 1.7 m tall, this distance would be about 2.5 m).
My avatar is a display of the lovely results of such a trial and error process.
