I would help you, but math was never my strong suit. English/Literature is my forte.

It really bums me out how long it takes for me to follow the math when my theoretical physics friends get to talking.

There's this one problem and I got to
ax=bx-ab+3a-8
Would I divide by a and have everything on the right side be over a? Then how would i get the x from bx to the left side.

You just move everything with x to one side and anything without to the other.
Then you can group the x and solve.

ax - bx = -ab + 3a -8

(a-b) x = (3-b) a - 8

x = ((3-b) a - 8)/(a-b)

done

That picture I posted is way out of date. I look way different now and I'm going to look way different in 3 years. You'll never recognize me unless I post a new pic or you somehow found me on fb.
