They'll just pop an SP stone/potion and smash your face in like it were nothing.

Depends. If you time it so that you burn their SP right after they use a stone, it can be useful if it's a close fight.

@a.L: Mana Burn does not drain all of their SP so no matter what, you've still got a Fighter about to kill you.
@Serendina: Um... no. What I want is for Mages to be fixed. Damage, stones, range and usefulness of certain spells. That isn't asking for much especially when things like this should not have to be fixed. Everything else is just things that I have pointed out that I find wrong. I'm not saying everything needs to be fixed. (Christ, I seem to have hit my repeat button.)
Um... I never said that either. Try rereading my post again. By the way, Ralath already used that. It seems you Archers are all the same.
@Ivramire: Then you explain that to Outspark. Because Fighters are overpowered, Archers can kite and Clerics have survivability out the wazoo. Mages? Nothing that could help us solo. I was there when that supposedly happened yet I saw Archers in parties ALL the time. To be honest, I think it's just one big lie. Or a server thing, not sure which. There isn't much Mages have to acknowledge.
@Miriamele: Anything in numbers is going to hurt a lot, especially if they happen to be capped as well. That argument isn't really... useful.

Honestly, I have stated that it depends on the situation. It can work, depending on how much SP is left. It takes off a nice chunk, considering fighters have a low SP pool to begin with.

They have SP stones and potions. No matter the situation, your face is coming off. The most you might be able to do is stop them from killing you right then and there but you're dead either way so in my opinion, it IS useless.

What's not useful about purging buffs? You only need to purge a cleric once, maybe twice to get rid of both his pt buffs. And then you go crazy with nova, inferno... etc.
Mana burn can still be used effectively when you're the only mage. It does screw up fighters because, if you haven't noticed, we do use up a LOT of SP and we don't expect that mages use mana burn because most of them don't during wars. It catches us off-guard for a moment, but whatever buys you time so you can run away or cast fear or whatever...
I've seen mages being used quite tactically in pvp. For instance, you use the map to your advantage to crowd your enemy into a space and bombard them with nova to slow them, then inferno. Put the fighters on the front line to deva. And so forth. Works magically, no pun intended. Stifle also will inevitably annoy fighters greatly since we are not used to any delay in our attacks.

*I think Mana-Burn is more of a utility-spell, though not necessarily one you can always rely on. Really depends a lot on luck and timing, but it can be supremely useful in conjunction with Stifle.
*The problem is...not everyone agrees that there is a problem, and if they do, it's not necessarily the same thing. I don't see any problem with Mage's damage or range, stones seem to be an intentional change for the DD classes. Some spells can certainly be tweaked, but that is entirely at the mercy of the developers.
*I think the main-problem with Fiesta's PvP are the Fighters. Clerics may survive Armaggeddon sure, but that's balanced by a killing-ability of close to zero. Archer's kiting are the only thing they got going for them. They'll never take down comparable Fighter's and don't even bother with Clerics who can cure their debuffs and take the physical damage. Mage's are closer to balanced what with a bevy of time-constricted but very useful PvP skills and low survivability. Fighter's though just pwn everything once they get in range ^__^

@Miriamele: I could be tactical about it, if it were not for the fact that all that requires a crap ton of luck and timing. I've got great timing and great tactical skills but luck? I have none. And most of the time, the people I attempt to go against are easily able to avoid stuff like Frost Nova or Inferno. Heck, most of the time they don't even need to.
How about this. How about each and everyone one of you play a level 71 Mage. Go into PvP and tell me how well you do against each class. Your gear can not be godly and you can only have a level 70 green wand that is +9'd. You tell me how badly you do or how good you do when fighting other classes at your level or around your level. Or just anything in general since you can't really pick and choose in these places.
As for PvE? You can only rarely get a group. Relying on friends is a no-no. So for the most part, you're forced to solo with the above mentioned gear. Oh and no cash shop items. Again, tell me how you fare. Because if you can do better than I can, than I will never complain about Mages again.

My mage is level 72. I can take down fighters around my level, assuming they aren't CS-ed to hell and back. Clerics are tough, but with a few crits I came close to killing Blah's level 72 cleric. I haven't fought against many archers 1 on 1, though.
I have no +9 armour, only a +9 blue staff.

Than they just suck. And for your information, I have no +9 armor either. My gear is all mediocre. I would love to get better gear but my only source of income is occasionally doing King Kong Phino and praying I don't end up dead three times.
