Interesting fact. The television I have in my den didn't come come with a "sleep timer" mode. There was another model that was basically the same except it did have a sleep timer, but for the extra $50 I said I would just turn the TV off if I felt sleepy or if I fell asleep I would turn it of when I woke up. Sleep timer was just not worth $50 more IMO.
So, as luck would have it one of the grand kids misplaced the remote to my TV and we bought one of the "universal" remotes from Wal-Mart and programmed according to the instructions for my specific TV. Now, this universal remote has several buttons I don't need, but they came with it and it was the most reasonable priced version. So . . . one of those buttons is for a sleep timer. And yep, it actually makes my TV go to a sleep timer. So basically the manufacturer was charging $50 more just for the different remote - their model remote that had a sleep timer button.
Haha, I got the $10 universal remote version rather then the $50 name brand remote version.
