ull beee fiiiiine i lived thro 4 in a row xD i was even out walking with a video camera in a catagory 4. as long as ure home will stay intact u should be fine. if ure near a beach tho i wish u the best of luck. and watch out for flying toasters......wen i was walkin i was commin bak down my street an my eye was on the camera right, then i saw this thing commin towards me on the street, i couldnt hear anything over the wind an rain, so i was like wtf is that an as soon as i sed that (its even on camera) a toaster flew in teh air an hit my thigh haha. i also had a tree fall on me, twuz my fault tho. it was on our powerlines an i had to get it off so i went out with my U lookin saw an cut it down then ralized HOLY FK IM HOLDING A TREE INBETWEEN POWER LINES AHHH!!!! with the force of the wind it made it extremely hard to maintain an i managed to get it out of the powerlines, then the pressure was extreme an instead of throwin it down i tried to bak up som reason, forget as to y(possibly cuz im an idiot), but the wind blew me down, an so the tree jus completly rapes me an im stuk under a tree with no shirt, and rain feelin like 1,000,000 needles pokin me for a good 15 mins then my uncle sees i have a tree on me (lolz) an he runs out the house an goes WTF U DOIN MAN, an we push it off me and laugh then play poker on the porch.

Eh, I should be fine as I'm on the western side of it. Trust me, I've been through my fair share. I've lived on the Gulf coast for nearly 30 years. The only one I've ever left for was Rita (which everyone seems to forget due to Katrina) and she hit just west of here, putting me on the bad side of it. Minimal property damage, no flooding. This one should be a walk in the park.
The only problem I see is that I've miscounted how many caffienated drinks I should have had on hand. I don't think I'll make it through Thursday so I'll be even more on edge. No power and no caffiene will end up working on my nerves.

Leaving.. Smart move.
I was listening to the radio and some people that lived in the projected hit zone were staying because they had pets/farm animals that they wanted to keep there... Crazy, delusional people...

Protecting property that people have worked hard to gain is delusional? I think its more delusional to give in to the mass hysteria that some people are getting about this storm. Hurricanes have been hitting the coast for hundreds of years and they've been known to do all sorts of unpredictable things. To uproot and evacuate for every one that comes along would mean being out of the area for months at a time. That's just not tenable. They've had "mandatory" evacuations from Mississippi to Texas for Gustav. Its insane the amount of fear this thing is generating. People need to take a deep breath. If someone is directly on the coast and/or in a low-lying area, sure. They need to go. And those people know who they are. As for the rest of us? We should shutter the windows, get some canned food, and suck it up for a few days until power is restored.
Edit: At least I'm not doing what these crazy guys are doing:

I think they've been up for too long. Their commentary is getting really weird.

Looks like right before landfall it was downgraded to a Cat. 2, but the difference in wind spped is only 5 miles per hour, so no big change. I saw Lake Charles on the news and other than wind and rain, it looked like it was surviving. Hang in there and have fun JT. Hope you don't lose power. THey aresaying the biggest threat is going to be flooding and the storms created because of Gustav.
