When I'm on trips like this alone without my mother, I just speak in nothing but German, and I pretend like I can't understand too much English... That usually keeps the people away xD

LOL! when i was in HK i did the opposite.. i spoke lotsa english to keep the sales people away! (otherwise they flock you going "CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP")

really.. maybe it was the stuff i was looking at.. coz i was at the electric stores, and ppl try to sell you cameras and phones and they'll hv to tell u wat all the "awesome" functions are.. they cant translate into english so they left me alone....

LOL I REMEMBER THAT!! Omgg~ It's like, you walk into a mobile store, then you get 238423987 people coming at you saying in Cantonese "CAN I HELP YOU?? WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE?? THIS IS A GOOD PHONE!!! YADDADAYDAYDAYDAYDYADYAAA"

I mean, their services are really great compared to some in Australia, they're really helpful when you need it and stuff, but honestly.. leave me alone!!!!!
