Make two points with the pen tool, then click anywhere in between them to create more points on the line. Then you hold ctrl and drag them around to make a curve. =)

I prefer using the freeform tool and just drawing my lines lol
. Yea it takes a few months to get it down to where what you are doing actually looks good. I don't know...maybe I'll make a pentool signature tutorial or something lol.
