[Outspark Event] Support Earth Day

Save a tree, buy things for an online game. I'm still stuck on whether or not to buy the pack... Permanent clothes, but they're fugly. Tree house, but I don't really rest. The potion might be useful, but might not be worth it. I would DEFINITELY buy it if it came with a CS weapon... *COUGH!!!*

Does it say they're going to donate X amount of money?

The costumes look kind of ugly to me @-@;

But I suppose that if it's really for a good cause, it seems pretty nice. I mean, not all games donate to planting trees, right? So I think it's pretty cool that they're doing this.

Lol I want to see some sincere effort (making Outspark staff literally go out and plant trees with their own hands & caring for the trees). Any corporation can throw a few dimes in profit for publicity and let others do the work.

I'm curious where the trees will be planted. (If they really are planting trees, instead of doing what Ethelinde stated...)

Um, well, if they're actually planting trees, who'll keep Fiesta going for that day? o-o Won't people just be complaining if on tree planting day no events and PMs being checked?

Besides, I think it's better to just donate the money to the organisations instead of getting Outspark staff to plant trees because that's... just kinda weird. Better to use the money on professional tree planting people (that sounds weird), right?

Well they may not be planting tress directly. They could take the profits that they make and donate them to an organization.

It's a shame they didn't give the organisation a plug though, would've done them some good.

After reading this thread it seems a lot of people are sceptical about Outspark's integrity. Considering the amount of patches they've botched, I'm not surprised by people's reactions, though I'd personally like it if people were positive about this at least. I don't know any other gaming companies out there that would do something like this. I think it's pretty cool.

I'm sure Outspark will make sure they get this right, for the sake of their integrity and the trees.

It's not like the game stops working without them doing something every 5 seconds though. The game runs fine (better, since there are hardly and downages at night here! xD) when they're all at home sleeping for a few (8-ish?) hours. But it Fiesta went down, everyone would be kinda screwed. 8D

The thing is, companies get a HUGE tax break for making donations to non-profit organizations. A HUGE tax break. It is in Outspark's best interest to collect the money and donate it to a foundation that supports planting trees. I do not think that they will go out and plant trees themselves, but they can give the money to a foubdation that will and does. It benefits everyone. I do not think Outspark is doing it JUST to help their profits. A lot of companies support Earth Day. The company I work for does. We pay a donation and then they send the money to a foundation set up for planting trees.
This promotion gives the players new items, gives them several different choices, and the items all benefit the player in-game if they chose to buy them. I personally did not want the outfit, or the tree, but stocked up on the Green potions, because if you look at the price of the regular HP potions, the green ones are half that price and give you the same thing. <---- benefits to the players. Outsparks does make a profit off of the sales, Outspark gets a tax break (which EVERY company wants and needs), and Outspark's get the publicity that comes with helping non-profit organizations. <------benefits to the company. Non-profit foundations get money to further their cause, the earth gets more trees, they can produce more oxygen for us to breath, and help the environment out by providing homes and shelter to wildlife. <----- EVERYone benefits.
It is actually called Fraud to collect money for something and NOT give the moeny to whatever organization they are collecting for. Outspark cannot make money if they get shutdown or have a lawsuit filed against them for fraud. So, why would they scam??

Sorry for the long post, just my two cents worth. Support the earth, do not think about it as supporting Outspark. Most companies that collect money and other items for charity actually hire people to collect the stuff and pass it out. Not all of the donations go straight towards the charity. This is no different.
