Personally I'd choose Cleric first, that way you wouldn't have much financial problems. I had an archer as my first char and I was always broke, but it wasn't the case for my cleric. So I guess make a cleric first, and then you can make your archer later, so even if it does go broke, you can always have your cleric's money as a backup. XD

Besides, it's probably easier to level on a cleric, so it'd be good to get to know the game on an easy character rather than an archer which likes to die often. (Not saying archer sucks, but you need the right build and all, so it'd be better to know the game before making an archer so you won't go wrong, xD).
