Has any1 tried to lvl up before a KQ

I was wondering if you could lvl up higher than the allowed limit for a king quest you have allready signed up for. I was doing ToI and didn't turn in quests til I finished most of em. I ended up lvl up 4 times within a few minutes, and I was wondering if I could use this tactic to enter a King Quest(Robo) so that I could overlvl that quest?

I was thinking of completing the ToI quests for my other character and then participate in the KQ then turn in the ToI quests to lvl up b4 the quest starts, or will it automatically kick me off once I get above the lvl limit?
